From the supplier: University of Michigan faculty partnered with local high school science teachers to develop a Foundations of Science course aimed at helping students better understand technology and science. The university researchers developed software that allowed high school students to use the tools and methods of professional scientists. The teachers implemented this software in a three-year, project-based course that examined real-life phenomena. Students study science issues that impact their community and their lives. As part of this process, students were provided with portable computers and software to help them complete their research. The Internet was another useful resource. Students in this course also developed the ability to work together more effectively in groups and improved communication skills.
