Chanel Martinez is trying to make a living whichever way she can. With beauty that most can't deny, Chanel hopes her exotic looks (she is of Spanish descent) will help her to make a little money. Fresh off the plane and pressured to find work, Chanel stumbles on the chance of a lifetime, or so she thinks. She befriends Essence who is eager to be her friend too. Essence has a lot going on with her, but she doesn't mind, as long as she is having fun and making money. But will her greed lead them into a world that they both won't be able to handle?
Solomon is Jamaican and he also loves money. He loves to make it and spend it on whatever comes his way. He is all about his paper. Through the course of events, Solomon will enter a world with Chanel that he has never known and he's quite sure that he doesn't want to know either.
Ms. Jolie made sure that Chanel had a supporting cast in the book. The book was an easy read because you weren't confused about the characters. She made sure to introduce everyone, one step at a time, instead of just throwing characters into the mix. She made sure there was no confusion and she also made the book an interesting read. There were no editing problems and the typesetting was fine. The editor made sure that all the steps were followed in the book as far as the story structure, character development, motivation, as well as conflict versus confrontation. My only reservation about In Those Jeans is that I saw some similarities to Miasha's Secret Society. Overall the book was a quick enjoyable read, it just bothered me that there were some instances where I was reminded of another author's work while I was reading.

Have you ever seen someone who appeared to have it all? Looks, body, and the latest fashions? That describes Chanel Martinez to the tee. Chanel was a 5'9" bombshell with a body to die for and every man's fantasy plus more. Chanel was used to credit card scams and money being at her disposal. But when circumstances changed her financial situation, Chanel had to do whatever it took to maintain her lifestyle and keep her secret.
Things seem to change when Chanel meets Samuel. This successful Jamaican businessman came right on time for Chanel. Samuel was smooth, a perfect gentlemen, and money was never an issue for him. But a relationship cannot be made up on lies and dishonesty. When Samuel is suddenly arrested, secrets are revealed that could lead to deadly consequences. But does Samuel have a secret of his own?
In Those Jeans was an excellent read, it tackled a variety of issues but yet at the same time maintained a realistic storyline. I think the author did an excellent job. You can never trust someone no matter how long or short the time period is. This book held my attention from beginning to end. It dealt with taboo topics that you rarely see in today's novels. Like the old saying goes "What's done in the dark shall come out in the light." That was definitely the main theme throughout In Those Jeans.

Chanel Martinez loved the glamorous life. As long as your money was long, she would roll with you. After a break up with her boyfriend, she travels to ATL to find her subsequent lover/money maker. While working in a gentleman's club she meets Jamaican baller Samuel. Sam knows how to treat a lady with all the finer things in life. He wines and dines Ms. Chanel until her little hearts' content. Chanel loved all that attention but she is also busy hiding a shocking secret from her lover boy------- one that COULD be her death wish and of course Samuel has secrets of his own that he wasn't too big on sharing....
Ms Jolie puts it down in her debut novel and I look forward to her future novels. Kudos!

Chantel Jolie's debut novel, In Those Jeans, was one jaw-dropping moment after another. The beautiful Chanel Martinez was not your average hit-em up chick. Sure, she wanted and needed someone to take care of her, but she was not above going out and making it rain money on her own.
Desperate times called for desperate measures as we opened up this story to find Chanel being dumped by her man before he sponsored a much needed trip to Brazil. That did not stop her though. She financed her own trip and upon her return to Hot-Lanta, with no where to go, Chanel did what she did best; hustled to survive.
Just as times got a little rougher for her, in stepped Samuel; a fine Jamaican brother with a here one moment, gone the subsequent accent. Chanel knew she had a keeper. But in order to keep him, she had to keep one life-shattering secret to herself. Little did she know, Samuel had a devastating secret of his own.
Chantel Jolie has the makings of an awesome street-lit writer. In Those Jeans was consistent, smooth flowing, exciting, and everything made sense. Well almost everything. There were a few grammatical issues and I was not fond of the typesetting. Still, the plot was tight, the characters were believable, and the material was fresh. I recommend In Those Jeans to urban fiction/street-lit fans.
