Editor's Notes and Comments:
Product Description:
Dexter is a Showtime original television series starring Michael C. Hall as serial killer Dexter Morgan, who works as a forensics analyst specializing in bloodstain pattern analysis for the Miami-Dade Police Department. The series is based on the novel, Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. The film won TV Program of the Year at AFI in 2006 as well as four IGN awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor.
Featuring the theme song by Rolfe Kent, distinct, original score by Daniel Licht and a diverse collection of songs from the very first season of this hit television program. The soundtrack translates the show s Cuban and Latin feel, taking place in Miami. The show s most poignant songs were selected to complete this irreplaceable soundtrack.

It's OK. Not as much variety as I had expected. Not keen on the voice overs either.

It's a TV soundtrack, so some of the clips aren't full-length songs; some are the same song done different ways; adn not all the music from the series is represented here. That said, it's fantastic. I listened to it several times, and I'm not much for music, so that should tell you something.

The "Dexter" soundtrack is very good. The CD includes the fabulous main theme of the show by Rolfe Kent, plus many other snippets of music and vocal clips from the series. Highlights include the peppy, electronic "Uruapan Breaks" by Kinky; the Latin-infused "Flores Para Ti" by Raw Artistic Soul, featuring Rafael Cortez; the energetic "Con Mi Guaguanco" by Ray Armondo; "Perfidia" by Mambo All-Stars; and the score tracks "Escalation," "Deborah Loves Rudy/The House," "Photo Albums," "Courting the Night," "Hide Your Tears," "Astor's Birthday Party," and "Blood Theme."
Most of the tracks are outstanding. The only minor problem is that the majority of the songs are only a minute or so long, which is a trend commonly found in TV or movie soundtracks. Still, the CD does a good job of capturing the macabre, Miami feel of the Showtime series.
One fun thing to note: The album comes packages in a blood-red plastic CD case, which isn't something you can see on the Amazon.com page. That in itself is pretty funny, and it's almost worth buying the CD just for that reason.
Overall, if you love the show "Dexter," I think you'll enjoy this soundtrack.

The ones that have watched the two TV seasons already know the quality of the series and this soundtrack is a credit to the show.
You will find an excellent selection of tracks, from the Cuban rhythms to the original score by Daniel Licht, with every single moment taking you back into the series. However, unlike other soundtracks that do not stand by themselves and only make sense accompanied by the mental images of the TV show, here you will discover an original musical ambience that gains a new life that can be enjoyed separately.

Bought this after buying the books. What better Valentine's Day gift. The talking is a bit creepy if you haven't watched the show but the Cuban music is fun.
