Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
The outbreak began in 2007. It's now 2112.

The crippled U.S. government is giving up in its fight against an undead plague. Military forces and aid have been withdrawn from the last coastal cities, leaving those who choose to stay in the 'badlands' defenseless against hordes of zombified humans and animals.

It's been a hopeless battle from the beginning. The undead, born of an otherworldly energy fused with a deadly virus, have no natural enemies.

But they do have one supernatural enemy... Death himself.

Descending upon the ghost town of Jefferson Harbor, Louisiana, the Grim Reaper embarks on a bloody campaign to put down the legions that have defied his touch for so long. He will find allies in the city's last survivors, and a nemesis in a man who wants to harness the force driving the zombies--a man who seeks to build an empire of the dead where America once stood.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Good, but not all good
The book its self was pretty entertaining. Had the necessary action and gore with some intresting twists i haven't seen in a zombie novel before. But i had a hard time keeping up with the characters at some points. It jumped around a little bit to much for me.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Fantabulous
I cannot wait for the sequel. I Cannot Wait For The Sequel. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!!! DO YOU HEAR ME, DUNWOODY?!?

I enjoyed this book immensely. The interwoven threads of the main plot and various subplots come together nicely to form a wonderfully grotesque tapestry of post-apocalyptic mayhem. The characterization and evolution of the iconic Death was gratifying for me to read. (I'm a fan of both THE SEVENTH SEAL and BILL AND TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY, obviously.)

I hope to see more post-zombie-apocalypse reads like this soon.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Promised the Reaper...Got an Emo instead
Ok, as you can tell I am not impressed by this book at all. Of all the zombie books I have gotten from Amazon, I felt that this was the worse (that being Day by Day Armageddon, Dying to live, Morning star strain - both, World war Z) So here is a break down:

Pros: It's a zombie book; zombie lovers will love another authors ideas about the zombie plague. Has the grim reaper. Zombies are...different then your usual zombies.

Cons: Not entirely well written. Often left with scratching my head trying to figure out whose perspective the author is trying to write from. That is because in one paragraph you have the view point from one character and the second it is the other character. It would have been nice to stick with one through out the chapter and switch from point of views from chapter to chapter. Next point, Grim Reaper. Shows up in spurts and appears to have a persona of an emo kid which is such a let down. If you are expecting the avatar of death to be the equivalent of Neo from Matrix, this book will let you down hard.

After Thoughts: The book is called Empire...Why? I have no clue. If you think ruling a house equals an empire, sure I guess it can be called as such. Otherwise the name of the book feels extremely inadequate.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Can't wait for more from this author!
My husband won this book in a contest, and we loved it! The author does something different with zombies and the end of the world, and it works. It's a fast read, not just because it's well-written but because the action really draws you in. There are a lot of characters to follow here, but they come together beautifully and you really feel the deaths and sacrifices you see. I really can't wait for other things from this author! I would recommend this book to folks who like zombies, post-apocalyptic stuff, readers of Pratchett and Harington and anyone else who likes reading something that is fun and meaningful all at once. You will enjoy it.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Interesting Spin
I thought this book was pretty good. It took a different path from the normal zombie novel, which I thought was a breath of fresh air. I've been reading alot of zombie fiction lately, and it's been more and more of the same things happening in each book. If you're tired of the normal zombie story, definately take the time to purchase and read this book. You won't regret it.
