Product Description:
Face it.

Your girlfriends can tell you what you need to know about just about everything...except men. For that, you need comedian and Essence columnist Finesse Mitchell.

Eager to help his sistas out and show them how to avoid the types of men who have left them baffled, blue, or just plain bitter, Mitchell tells the truth, whether it's good, bad, or downright despicable. Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much clues women in to what men are really thinking at every stage of a relationship, from very first contact through deciding to propose. Lighthearted and brutally (if hilariously) honest, Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much lets women in on the things only men know about men and, in the process, saves them from wasting weeks,

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Good common sense advice for 19-27 year olds
I would recommend this book for 19-27 year olds. The reasons are here: under 19 year olds really shouldn't be thinking about serious relationships and over 27 year olds should already know the information in this book.

I am in my 30's and found the information to be mostly common sense advice you gain from dating in general. The book has some funny points that made me chuckle and had some good advice.

The best advice:
1. 80/20 rule - which I had heard before is basically the idea that you don't turn down dating a man because he is not 100% of what you want. Basically, if he has 80% of the things you consider most important, then you and he can work on having a relationship.

When you turn down men because they are not 100% of what you want, you basically are basing your happiness on 20% of a man, which is going to leave you lonely and bewildered.

2. Suggestions to get his attention (again I had heard it before)
a. Get close enough to him
b. Smile at him
c. If he asks why you are smiling, proceed further. If he doesn't ask why she is smiling, keep it moving.
d. He asks why you are smiling:
i. Tell him he is attractive to you
ii. Lie and say something like he reminds you of an old classmate, say the most popular guy in your high school class or something like that

3. Ways to make moves on a guy (all self help books tell you this)
a. Flirt with your eyes
b. Smile
c. Give him a compliment
d. Have a friend give him a note
e. Buy him a drink (of course, the situation has to be appropriate for that)

4. Great places for very first dates:
a. Coffee, breakfast, brunch, or lunch
b. Bowling
c. Roller skating
d. Arcades
e. Outdoor dates (like walks and biking)

5. Bad places for very first dates:
a. Amusement parks, fairs, and ghetto carnivals
b. Movies
c. Dinner
d. Poetry Slams
e. Concerts
f. Bookstores

The above is what I liked a lot about the book. The rest of the book I was mostly neutral. I found the marriage chapter useless because all it talked about was how men proposed to women.

Like I said, if you are 19-27, buy the book because it has some good common sense advice.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - good relationship book
as others have said this book is written from a funny point of view so you don't feel like you're being lectured nor do you feel like you're a loser. he breaks it down and gives good "big brother" advice. i enjoyed the most the chapter that has advice/perspectives from married men. i think this book is particularly helpful for women in the 25-34 age range. there are lots of good relationship books out there and this is a good one to read too.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Great book!
I really enjoyed this book. It made me look back at my last relationship in a new way. I highly recommend that all sistas read this!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Funny and Insightful
This book was actually funny and gave some good points. I would recommend it.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Must Read!
This book was so funny and at the same time helpful. I consider myself quite an expert on men and I totally agreed with about 99% of the perspectives in this book. I did learn a little more than I had anticipated and I was shocked, well maybe a little surprised, that a grey man would be so frank and honest about dating and relationships. I want to go and buy all my girlfriends a copy so they don't have to borrow mine...
