I was very pleasantly surprised by how good Whiskey Sour (the very first of the Jack Daniels stories) was, but I tried to manage my expectations for the follow-up for Bloody Mary. Well, no need to temper expectations, the book was great.
I think that Konrath did a great job of building the characters, while introducing an entirely new caper that was very familiar - yet very different than the very first book. This book was a very easy read and I think that one of the talents Konrath has is presenting the killer very early in the story, but still making the story compelling as the facts unfold.
I really enjoy the vulnerability of the good guys which really gives the book a realistic feeling because the stories have a great amount of realism in them which sets it apart from other books which are pure escapism.
I really don't like reviews that give the entire synopsis of the book, so I won't do that at all. What I will do is strongly recommend the book to anyone whose looking for a stark, dramatic and realistic cop story. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the subsequent books in the series.

I don't recall how I became aware of this series of books by J.A. Konrath, but I just finished reading BLOODY MARY and enjoyed it immensely. I read his very first book, WHISKEY SOUR awhile ago and interested me enough to continue onto this second book.
BLOODY MARY continues with the characters from the very first book, and brings them alive with witty dialogue and outrageous situations. Some sequences might be a bit graphic but that's just fuel from my mind's eye. I feel for Jacqueline Daniels and the others in her life. Mr. Friskers is a hoot.
J.A. Konrath writes with humour and attitude. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest in this series. Move over, Janet Evanovich.

This is J. A. Konrath's second book in his Jack Daniels series. This sequel really had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I think this may be the best book in the series so far.
Police officer, Barry Fuller, seemed to be a normal, ambicious rookie anxious to climb up in the ranks. It was a shock to everyone on the force, including Jack, when he turned out to be a mass murderer.
Even though Jack is always on top of her game when it comes to catching bad guys, she can't seem to keep a guy in her personal life. I really think that she needs someone to keep her life more balanced, centered.

Bloody Mary is one of the greatest books I have ever read. J.A. Konrath is spectactular this is a book you will not be able to put down. I normally take awhile to get through books. I have gotten through Whisky Sour, Bloody Mary, and Rusty nail all 3 books under 2 weeks. They keep you going there is always something happening. I promise you will not be disappointed with Konrath's books. They are a combination of Mystery/Thriller/ and graphic horror. *****'s to J.A. fantastic keep up the good work.

J.A Konrath is one of my favorite new authors. His writing style is fast and fun, even when he is describing horrible instances. The books are fast paced, and are great page turners. The characters are very well written, and the story lines are compelling. I enjoyed getting to know the characters deeper, that were very first introduced in the very first book of the series "Whiskey Sour." If you like mystery/thriller/cop fiction you will enjoy this series.
