Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
The enemy has found a new path to America's doorstep, and is approaching fast. In South America, covert operatives Ed Storey and Lee Troy discover that Al Qaeda and the criminal underworld have combined their resources, with money moving from the jungles to the deserts of the Middle East. And now terrorists are moving from the Middle East right to the U.S./Mexican border. There is a nightmarish plan in the works - and time is running out to stop it. But the madmen of Al Qaeda are already moving towards their goal - a devastating attack that will disrupt the presidential election and drain the Americans of their will to fight. And as Storey and Troy work their way closer to the terrorists, the odds against them skyrocket. For the terrorists have a secret ally who has been guiding them in their quest for bloodshed - an ally who works on the inside.

User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - First rate espionage thriller
This book continues on from the last Christie book, Threat Level. The characters are the same, which makes for a comfortable read. Again, the accuracy of weapons used yesterday as well as the workings within the complicated government systems in DC made for an authentic read which I could not put down. Great plot. Wonderful characters. I highly recommend this book.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - An excellent read
Mr. Christie has put together a fast paced, technically accurate military thriller novel with this book. After buying it on impulse for something to read on a recent flight, I'm here at Amazon to buy his other novels.

Other reviewers have synoposized the plot well, so I won't reiterate what has already been written. I'll simply say that this is definately a book worth reading, especially if you're a 'tactical' Walter Mitty like me.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Al Qaeda Attack Thwarted
Master Sergeant Edwin Storey and Petty Officer First Class Lee Troy are teamed up as covert operatives in South America (Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina)protecting U.S. interests. Abdallah Karim Nimri, an Egyptian by birth, has been summoned by Al Qaeda to Pakistan to help plan and participate in a daring attack targeted against the southern U.S. Nimri joins forces with a Chechen attack group under the leadership of Arbi Temiraev. They will endeavor to come across the Mexican border with the help of an elite Mexican criminal gang, Los Zetas, whose members had received Special Forces training. They are very heavily armed. U.S. plans are being leaked to the bad guys by a traitor who works as a translator for the FBI and has acess to secret data. FBI special agent Beth Royale, who happens to be Storey's girlfriend, plays a fine role. The author, a former marine officer, writes authoritatively. I very much enjoyed this quick mover. But, actually I preferred the previous book in the series Threat Level.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Second book in serieis better than the first
Threat Level was the very first book in this series. It is a good (4 stars) Action/Thriller dealing with US special operations, foreign and domestic intelligence gathering, and foreign and domestic anti-terrorist operations. Further, your view is not just ours (US) but that of the terrorists and specifically terrorists operating from Pakistan. The current book (The Enenmy Inside) continues with new threats and locations but the same key players both US and terrorist. I'm giving The Enemy Inside 5 stars because it is better then Threat Level. The action flows a bit better and character development continues with more humour.

Both of these books are what I consider to be 'technical' action books. That means methods ( in killing, assault, explosives, electronic intelligence gathering, etc.) are explained and the action is believable and both sides make mistakes neither we nor the ememy are perfect. Again like Threat Level you get to see the terrorists' perspective, and, you get to see a scenario of cross-border (Mexico to US) terrorist operation that seems feasible.

I highly recommend this book and all of Mr. Christie's books. His book The Blood That We Shed about Marines training, deploying, and getting into action in the Middle East is one of the best books I have read.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Go kick some butt, Sgt. Storey
I really like this guy's books for several reasons. First, he has a background in what he's writing about, and his books have a feeling of authenticity. Second, unlike many special ops / techno thrillers, the characters aren't cardboard cutouts, but well-developed personalities. Third, his level of detail concerning the ins-and-outs of how to conduct an operation is excellent.

"The Enemy Inside" is the latest in the `Master Sergeant Ed Storey' series. His counter terrorism unit is up against a threat from Al-Qaeda to infiltrate the U.S. from South of the Border. Sergeant Storey plays rough. Hey, we want to win, don't we?

I also have to agree with another reviewer - "The Blood We Shed": A Novel of Marine Combat" is an excellent tale of modern Marine operations.
