Product Description:
BITING IS SO LAST SEASON.
A vivacious vampire with a flair for accessorizing, Lil Marchette is unlike most of her kind. She prefers lively shades of pink to dismal grey (soo not her color), plus she’s a hopeless romantic. In need of a steady paycheck to support a compulsive cosmetics habit, Lil starts Dead End Dating (DED), a Manhattan-based matchmaking service that helps smart, sophisticated singles like herself find eternity mates–and may even help her stake a claim to her very own Count Right!
When Lil meets geeky vampire Francis Deville, she knows he’s the perfect very first client. If she can hook up Francis–after a little revamping, of course–she will prove her skills to the vampire community and turn DED into the hottest dating service in the Big Apple. But just as her business takes off, Lil meets the (literally) drop-dead gorgeous bounty hunter Ty Bonner, who is hot on the chase of a serial killer. Instantly drawn to the luscious vamp stud, Lil really wants a taste. But as a made vampire, Ty can’t procreate–and Lil will settle for nothing less. Luckily, between “vampifying” Francis and helping Ty solve his murder mystery, Lil has no time for silly romantic entanglements . . . even if Ty is all that and a Bloody Mary chaser!

I just finished this book and in comparison to the other vamp, demon, magical romance books that I have recently read by (Kenner, Hallaway, and Swenson) this book pales in comparison. I will not be reading the subsequent book of the series.

Ok so this is no Betsy...unfortunatly it is coming across as trying to be one. The fashionista vamp queen who finds herself above some of the darker sides of vampirism feels like a MJD rip off. However, I like the 'unique' aspects of the plot. The dating service thing feels like it could lead to some fun twists and turns. I laughed a few times, and I rolled my eyes a few times. It was definately a cute enough book, that I will read the subsequent one. If the plots and characters continue to develop differently than Betsy's, I will continue to read these. Its a good enough beginning to see where things lead.

I was a bit reluctant to start on this endeavor, for the back cover description sounded a bit too cutesy for me. Also, I enjoy male vampires with female humans as the main characters, but I of course was curious about this one and am as addicted to series as vamps are to the blue stuff. Pleasantly, this book was very different, focusing basically only on vamp-vamp relations, involving humans to a lesser degree, and injected so many unusual and new twists to vampirism that it was almost like reading about a new race entirely. Vampires are matched based on this orgasm rate for female, and fertility rating for the male. There are born vamps, and made vamps. Both groups are snobby toward each other and rarely interact.
If you're in the market for intense vampires, steer far away. There's no dark and ghastly here, even in terms of other vamps. It's all very light, fluffy, and a fast read that's humorous but not overly so, with plenty happening at all ends to keep things spicy. Raye's writing style is very different, not cloying and overdone but extremely spruced up and addictive. Add in a serial murder story that needs uncovering, and the pages fly by. The book does not stand out enough to rate a four star, but I'm very eager to read the subsequent book

Too cute, too annoying, and too similar to the UNDEAD series by MaryJanice Davidson. If you like cute, fluffy vampire reads with vain, self-centered heroines then you'll undoubtedly love this book. I won't be reading any others in the series myself.

I decided to buy Dead End Dating on a whim. I hadn't heard much about these books, but it looked lighthearted and funny so I decided to give it a try. Kimberly Raye's charming story about a 500 year old vampire named Lil and her attempts to get her brand new dating service off the ground while solving a murder mystery was exactly what I was hoping it would be.
Lil is a cute character, and although she has a love for fashion, and is pretty aware of her own good looks, she's more than just a pretty face (and she's certainly not nearly as superficial as an extremely annoying character written by another author whom other reviewers insist on comparing her to). Lil is the grey sheep of her family, and of vamps in general, actually. Instead of dressing in dark colors, she wears bright ones, instead of reveling in her brown eyes that flash red, she wears blue contacts. Instead of settling for a loveless eternity partner that her mother is determined to find for her, Lil wants to fall in love. And it seems like the sexy bounty hunter Ty who came to town to solve the murder mystery may be her best prospect, if only she can get over her own reservations against spending eternity with a sterile turned, not born, vampire.
I found Dead End Dating to be charming, funny, cute and lighthearted. I really liked Lil, and I really enjoyed reading her witty dialogue (both verbal and mental) and her not always smooth attempts to make a sucess of her dating service. Add to that a sweet romance, or at at least the beginnings of one, and an interesting mystery, and Dead End Dating was certainly a book worth reading.
