Editor's Notes and Comments:
Product Description:
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is still learning the ropes at her cousin Vinnie’s bail bond office, so when she sets out on the trail of Kenny Mancuso—a suspiciously wealthy, working class Trenton boy who has just shot his best friend—the stakes are higher than ever. That Mancuso is distantly related to vice cop Joe Morelli—who is trying to beat Stephanie to the punch—only makes the hunt more thrilling….
Taking pointers from her bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and using her pistol-packing Granda Mazur as a decoy, Stephanie is soon closing in on her mark. But Morelli and his libido are worthy foes. And a more sinister kind of enemy has made his very first move…and his subsequent move might be Stephanie’s last.

I am reading 'Two For the Dough' for a second time. My book club is discussing it subsequent week. I think Ms. E's characters really have a life of their own. Others may have said this before: Grandma Mazur, in my head, looks like Estelle Getty as Sophia on 'Golden Girls'. Everybody I know who reads the Plum novels seems to agree.
I have a firm image in my head of Stephanie looking like Kari Byron from Mythbusters. (Yeah, my mind is a strange and wondrous thing). Ranger, despite his description, is James Marsden. Joe Morelli is not easily defined, though definitely a woman's man. Connie reminds me of Mimi from Drew Carey. Lula is in a class by herself. Stephanie's mom is Majel Barrett as she is seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Stephanie's dad looks my Uncle Thomas. They could be twins [grin].
So, the characters are familiar and the plots are ALL great. I have read the very first six. I will read the subsequent eight in the coming weeks.

This is of course only the second out of fourteen, but that doesn't lessen it's quality. This is a fun adventure in the Stephanie Plum series. I highly recommend it and the rest of them if you can get your hands on them!

I just love this series. I bought the very first book of the series loved it so much I bought the rest of the series. I never had a series that made me laugh so much. I always have a Kleenex box handy so I can dry my eyes so I can continue reading. Evanovich is always coming up with clever characters. I read all 14 books of the Plum series and can't wait for the subsequent book.

I generally read murder mystery series with recurring characters because I like how the character evolves over time. Although I don't expect comic relief in a murder mystery(and most have very dark characters) Janet Evanovich has taken the genre in a new direction. Her Stephanie Plum books are fun, easy to read, and down right hilarious and by the way - they also include murder. If I was to compare Evanovich's character to another in the same genre I would compare Plum to Archie McAnally, Lawrence Sander's Palm Beach Detective. If you want deep reading you may consider something more like the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly but if you enjoy reading and laughing you should read this entire series. Grandma Mazur is a hoot. One suggestion though, read the very first book to see if you like it and then you better just order the whole series because if you read like me you'll be going through a book every couple of days.
