Product Description:

Tim Wallace’s wife died in a boating accident several months ago. Tim was the only eye witness, and one New Jersey cop is sure he killed her. He didn’t, but even if the police eventually clear his name, he’ll never get over this terrible tragedy.

On New Year’s Eve, his two best friends and business partners finally convince him to go out for the very first time since Maggie’s death, and at their neighborhood pub just a few minutes before midnight, things in Tim Wallace’s life go from bad to worse. “Can you keep a secret? A really big one?” a drunken stranger asks him. Before Tim can say anything or turn away, the man confesses to a months-old murder, even offering as proof the location of the woman’s body. “Now it’s your problem,” he says and walks away.

When the man turns out to have been telling the truth, Tim’s life and work are put under the microscope again by the cops, and this time they’re not giving up. But neither is Tim, even when things keep getting worse for him, and eventually he realizes he’s the only person who can figure out what’s really going on---even if it kills him.

David Rosenfelt, popular author of six Andy Carpenter mysteries, including the recent hit Play Dead, delivers his very first standalone with Don’t Tell a Soul, combining the suspense and great characters of his mystery series with an unputdownable, thrilling read.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - A Fast Moving Mystery
When a drunken stranger confides in him that he had killed a young woman in Kinnelon, New Jersey, some three months earlier, Tim Wallace, already suspected of having murdered his wife after she dies in a boating accident, suddenly finds his life put under a microscope by the cops and launches a personal investigation to uncover the truth. BT.
I found this to be a fulfilling and fast-paced mystery thriller. I read through this novel in two sittings and enjoyed the heck out of it. Though it lacked a little depth, it didn't take alot away from the story and still provided a good escape.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Another great read from David Rosenfelt
After reading First Degree years ago, I became addicted to the Andy Carpenter series. The great mix of sarcasm in his characters goes a long way for me. It isn't your typical lawyer-action series, there is more to his books.

I was very excited when I saw Don't Tell a Soul was coming out, until I realized it wasn't part of the Andy Carpenter. I didn't think the new characters could live up to the old. This is where David stands out.

The characters in the Don't Tell a Soul are all fresh and new characters. They don't follow the traits of those in the Carpenter series. It made me immediately forget about the Carpenter series and focus and learn the new characters.

The book was fun, exciting, and really fit well with the elections coming up. Everything I thought I figured out what was happening, another wrench got thrown in. It wasn't a book that you could figure everything out early.

If you like the Carpenter series, this is a must read. If you haven't read any of David ROsenfelt's material, give it a shot. It's not your typical novel.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Sheila??? Sheila???
I'm only a short way into the book, and I am a big fan of David Rosenfelt (thus 4 stars just for writing!), but I think I've missed something. I read over that conversation in the bar between Tim and 'Cashman' three times now - and I see no mention of the name "Sheila". Can someone help me see the light? thanks!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - What a conspiracy!
After have written six much-appreciated novels in the Andy Carpenter series, the author has now chosen to write a taut, well-constructed standalone mystery/thriller. It begins when Tim Wallace takes his wife out on his boat on Long Island Sound where her hat is blown overboard. She urges him to go in the water to retrieve it. As he turns to go back to the boat a fire erupts and an explosion obliterates it and his wife.

Tim heads a construction firm working on a new Federal complex in Newark. For months after the accident he just works, avoiding any social contact. Then on New Year's Eve his partners prevail upon Tim to join them at a favorite watering hole. Just before midnight, a stranger sidles up to Tim and confesses the murder of a woman who is buried in a New Jersey town. This is the beginning of several stranger events which seem to implicate Tim in two murders--the aforementioned woman as well as his wife--in addition to possible acts of terrorism.

The cleverness of the plot is surpassed only by the tense pace and quality of the prose. The story is briskly paced and rushes to a rousing finale. Very much worth the read.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Page turner but....
This book was a very good page turner and hard to put down, which is a good thing.

But (unless I missed the key element along the way) I don't get the reason nor was it explained why 1) Tim was targeted with the boat explosion and/or 2) why he was being set up at the end.

The assassination plot was proceeding after the endeavor on Tim's life with the boat explosion so, he obviously, posed no threat to the plan nor was in the way it appears.

I guess why it was such a page turner was I was waiting for that "tie-in" and it never came. Oh well.
