Product Description:
Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid. When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical? But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven't stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess getup complete with whip and wings. And she can't have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy's life. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore-free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy acess to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't. But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny...

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - This series is a Great, Fun ride!
I bought this book because the synopsis caught my interest. And after reading it, I was pleasantly surprised just how much I liked these characters! I believe that is Mead's strength- her characters. It's a paranormal 'Friends' series that includes vamps, angels & demons in one dysfunctional 'family'. You empathize with the unlikely heroine Georgina, as well as her more unlikely choice for a boyfriend. And let's not forget the steamy hotness of much needed Succubus sex! Be warned, if you start with Succubus Blues, plan to continue reading this series as it will grip around your heart & won't let go...

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I'm addicted to Georgina
The cover on this book looks like it's a trashy paranormal romance, but the writing in this book is actually incredibly engaging and clever. I began reading Mead's work with Vampire Academy, since I was looking for something fun to read after Twilight, and once I finished those, I couldn't find anything else good to read, so even though the cover looked like I wouldn't like this, I gave it a try. Thank goodness I did.

I've blown through all three books in a week and a half - I just can't get enough of the characters and engaging writing style. There is explicit sex in here - hey, it's a book about a gal who takes men's souls during sex, what do you expect? But it added to the story and was done well.

If the cover's scaring you off, please just give this book a try anyway. You'll love it and if you are like me, you'll have the subsequent two overnighted.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding very first book in a series
What I think is so cool about this series is that it doesn't really seem like a series. If you should by the second book first, you don't HAVE to read the very first in order to know what's going on. This very first book was awesome-I read alot and haven't been able to discover many authors that I can sit down and read everything they've written. I'm glad I can do that with this.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Great beginning for a great series!
This is an great beginning to a great series. Richelle Mead draws you in from page one. I was reluctant at first, a shape-shifting succubus that sleeps with men to suck the life from them? But after reading this book, I was hooked. I find myself wanting to read the story over again even though I know what happens. I definitely recommend this book.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Can't go wrong with this one...
Demons and Angels have never mixed well. They're not supposed to, of course. Though that doesn't stop either forces from interacting with one another and getting involved, even if it seems odd. Even unorthodox...

Welcome to Georgina Kincaid's life. A mix of real and surreal, mystical and something else. As the reigning succubus in the Seattle area, and as an assistant manager at Emerald City Book & Cafe, Gerogie hasn't been holding up her end of the bargain as a succubus whose goal is to corrupt male souls and fight for the side of Evil. The problem? She's depressed, unsatisfied and realizing eternal beauty, the ability to shape-shift into any form she chooses, immortality and the kind of knowledge that would make most humans salivate at knowing, can't find her happiness or love in her life. Forget the sex...that's unavoidable (pleasurable sure, as long as she doesn't like the guy) but what's a succubus to do when even sex is no longer a good enough reason to live at all?

Georgie realizes that it isn't. And as she meets two men, Seth, an awkward but sensitive writer who's moving to Seattle, and who happens to be Georgie's favorite author, and Roman, a confident, smooth talking tempter, she is forced to acknowledge the reality and truth of her existence, and painfully remembering the reason she signed a contract to sell her soul in the very first place, so long ago. Both men tempt her to break her rule of only having sex with low-moral-unethical and already damned males, but that could be the least of her problems. A mysterious force is rocking the Heaven-Hell scales of her world, bringing both forces on one side against this other danger that also seems to be targeting Georgie herself...

Solid, solid all around. Don't let the cheesy cover fool you. Under the bad art lies a tale that will make your toes curl by the surprisingly well crafted and smartly developed mystery, with characters that you like and remember, the grin-worthy romance, and the well-placed wit (that's actually witty and funny)that is laced throughout. It's modern, chic, with enough emotional pull (that doesn't make you cringe or roll your eyes at) to draw you in, suck you in, as well as constant movement/action that is nearly all emotional, rather than physical action, though that's well done to.

I couldn't find a flaw (I looked and thought about it too), other than this book flitters between serious and subdued serious. This could easily have been Ann Rice-ish if Mead had pushed the envelope, instead, it's a lighter take on the whole Good vs. Evil and the bonds of mankind itself. This world is artfully crafted and easy to identify with, but not to worry, there are no ambiguous elements left hanging, and therefore, little for the reader to discover for him/herself. Not that that's at all bad, and it just works incredibly well here. It's balanced perfectly, neither offensive nor deeply in-depth, just a dash. I think for people who aren't heavy into the Biblical element, but find it interesting, will love this book. But as you start reading, don't think Mead is going to get all specific and dramatic. The religious element is more of a comment on Georgie's character development as well as for the plot itself.

I'm almost dreading to read the second one because I read the very first one so quickly. I want Mead to write more and get crackin' on more Georgina Kincaid tales so I don't have to wait on tenterhooks for the subsequent one. For a series, this is one that I can sink my teeth into, and I want more. Finally, something to rave about!
