I was given this book as a gift and it sat on my bookshelf for almost a year before I picked it up and started reading. Once I picked it up I found it hard to set it down! We've all read those books that when you're done reading them, they leave you longing for more wishing that the experience would go on and on...this is one of those books.
I definitely suggest reading this book, but only if you have a couple of uninterrupted days to do so...Very good read. Never a dull moment.
The story switches between the French Revolution(1790's) and the days of OPEC deals (1970's) and deals with a 'possessed' chess service said to hold mystic powers that if in the wrong hands could prove the downfall of all mankind. The heroin of the story, Catherine Velis, Computer expert and music graduate, is sucked into a real life game of 'chess' with ppl cast as the pieces. She is unaware of who her allies are but they have to work together to find the scattered pieces before they are found by the other suit and used for evil.
Very good book.
