Product Description:

Enter an adrenaline-laced epic where dreams and reality collide

Fleeing his assailants through deserted alleyways, Thomas Hunter narrowly escapes to the roof of a building. Then a silent bullet from the night clips his head . . . and his world goes black.

From the blackness comes an amazing reality of another world--a world where evil is contained. A world where Thomas Hunter is in love with a beautiful woman.

But then he remembers the dream of being chased through an alleyway as he reaches to touch the blood on his head. Where does the dream end and reality begin?

Every time he falls asleep in one world, he awakes in the other. Yet in both, catastrophic disaster awaits him . . . may even be caused by him.

Some say the world hangs in the balance of every choice we make. Now the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance of one man's choices.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - To sleep or not to sleep...
Someone is shooting at Thomas Hunter. He runs for his life--zig-zagging, hiding, and executing some awesome martial arts--as men chase him through the streets of Denver. But when a silent bullet grazes his head, his world goes grey and he wakes up somewhere else.

In darkness. He doesn't know where he is. Hideous bats chase him, clawing at him until he loses consciousness again and wakes up back in Denver, in an alley. He manages to get to his sister's apartment, clean himself up, and lies down on the couch.

Only to wake up in the strange place again. He finds his way out of the scary, dark place and into a perfect land, somewhere in the distant future. He meets kind people who embrace him, a beautiful woman, and embarks on an amazing adventure.

But still, every time he falls asleep in one world, he wakes up in the other. And as the stories weave together, Thomas discovers that the past, and his life in Denver, was destroyed by a deadly virus. He wakes in Denver and enlists the help of his very skeptical sister. The two set off to save the world, with Thomas traveling back and forth looking for clues and trying to convince everyone of his sanity.

Woo! What an amazing book. From page one, Black, by Ted Dekker, captivates, taking the reader on a journey of cunning wonder. It's no surprise of this trilogy is such a huge success. The book ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader one his own adventure: off to buy book two. Nice job!

Highly Recommended.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Oy with the Bats Already!
When a friend told me about how this book included a giant talking evil bat...I must say, I laughed in his face. But I gave it a chance. And I was hooked immediately. Ted Dekker, you've done it again. Absolutely amazing storytelling. Even on my second perusal of the novel, I can't put it down. This guy has an incredible imagination. Twisted, yes, but undoubtedly incredible. It transitions from the real world, where good and evil seem to be relative terms, twisting and turning and without a true face to them, to the fantasy world where bad is bad and good is good because you come face to face with it. You won't be disappointed, even if one of the villains is a giant talking evil bat.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Unique storyline, Great plot
I originally purchased the graphic version for my son. Then I read it because it sounded interesting. After that I found out that it was based on a novel and got it next. Kind of the expensive way to get a book, but hey it was still worth it. I have read a lot of novels, and the unique story line and quality of writing makes this one a must for me. Since then I have read the whole trilogy and recommend it.

Close to Denver, Colorado. Around midnight. Thomas Hunter strolls from the Java Hut. Suddenly, a hole appears inches from his head. Brick fragments trickle out. Another, with a soft thunk! His adrenaline kicks in as he spots the gunmen. He makes a run for it.
Welcome to the world of Thomas Hunter, a simple 25 year old blue belt with a night shift at the Java Hut. But when he gets shot in a gunfight, he passes out and his world fades... and his life is changed forever.
He awakens in a world where the trees emit amber and emerald glows, where white lions roam, and where evil is contained in the other side. Now Thomas must prepare for the demise of two worlds.
This fantasy world is the work of Ted Dekker. By combining a chilling story, captivating characters, and amazing explosions, gunfights, and fistfights, Dekker has made the very first amazing book in the Circle trilogy. A masterpiece.
The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want to stay up late to find out what happens next. While it is more downtime than not, Dekker still seems to keep you interested. Watch as Ted Dekker masterfully immerses you into Thomas's predicament. A must read for any thriller/fantasy fan.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing!
This was incredible! I couldn't put it down! The entire trilogy was like that for me but this was my very first and it gripped me entirely. It was recommended to me by a bookseller and she was right on the money. I ended up reading it so quickly I had to run to buy the subsequent two. I have now bought almost everything Ted Dekker has written and I have yet to find one of his books that I didn't tear through.

This begins the epic adventure of Thomas Hunter living and dreaming in two realities. Between Colorado and what ends up being Other Earth, as it comes to be known in the follow up series "The Lost Books", one pleasant, unassuming young man becomes the savior in both planes. Pulse-spiking adventure, love, pain, angst - all part of "Black" and the trilogy!

Don't just buy this one because you'll be running out to get the subsequent two - buy them all at once!
