I found this book so excellent that I am buying other Staub books! A fantastic read!! Kept in suspense until the end!

Set in an upscale suburb, the novel starts right off on the very first page with a murder. It then takes a good 200 pages for anything of real interest to occur once more. The ending is rather good & one would not suspect whose responsible for the nasty goings on. Trouble is are we reading a murder mystery or a Mommy & Me story? There is so much superfluous fluff written into each chapter dealing with the kids it kills the book. It seems it's written in there to take up space. You'll find yourself scanning, instead of reading, to get past the Mommies & little ones. I came close to just chucking this one. So much unnecessary verb-age I'll have to rate this a 1 star despite the rather good ending. This was my 1st & last novel by this author

Although I enjoyed how the author accurately described the lives of the stay home mothers; the book overall was a little dull. First of all there were so many characters introduced that it was hard to keep up. Secondly, the ending was unrealistic. It seemed like the killer was just decided on at the end. I would recommend She Loves Me Not and The Final Fictim over this book.

Stay at home moms are being killed in the small town of Townsend Heights. A serial killer is on the loose and the murderer could be anyone.
This mystery novel is not one of Wendy Corsi Staub's better works. The plot is overly drawn out in the 462 page novel with the very first two hundred some pages reiterating the exact same topic needlessly. The author introduces so many characters in the beginning, that it is extremely difficult for the reader to be pulled into the suspense aspect. Even the killer is predictable and non-climactic.
The only believable part of this book is how well the author describes what it is like to be a hard working mother. And, although many readers will easily relate, most stay at home moms that pick up a book to read, want to escape the stress and frustration of every day life. Instead of representing the greater joys of motherhood, the author only keeps reiterating how tiring and unrelenting being a mom is. There is no upside to this story. The characters are poorly developed which leaves the reader feeling no sympathy or compassion for what each encounters.
Is it worth buying?
I wouldn't waste my money on this particular WCS book.

This review is for all of Wendy Corsi Staub's books. The very first book I read by this author was Lullaby and Goodnight, which was maybe a year ago. I loved it so much that I went and bought all of her books and read them all in a month. I just finished her newest one "The Final Victim" and even though it is a long book (474 pages) once I was done with it I was left wanting more. I know she is working on her subsequent novel, but I just wish that she would write faster:) Anyways go, buy and read any of her mystery (except Dearly Beloved). I guarantee you will fall in love with her style and you'll be left wanting more. Just for a reference, I like mystery books where cops and detectives are not involved a lot. My favorite authors are, of course, Wendy Corsi Staub; Mary Higgins Clark, Patricia MacDonald, Carlene Thomson and Sidney Sheldon. Good luck.
