Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Recommended for anyone who considers themselves a thriller lover
This is the second Repair Man Jack novel I've read. Both have been fast paced, entertaining page turners. In this entry, Jack is hired by an AIDS clinic doctor with a troubled past to find out why her greedy half brother is so intent on buying the family house her father willed to her following his death in a fiery plane crash. Shady Saudi's, a crew of mercenaries for hire, and a mysterious Japanese assassin with a fondness for fast food are also interested in the house. It soon becomes apparent that the doctor's dead father has left behind a key to a new technology that is worth a fortune.

This novel, like the other Repairman Jack novel I've read, is a quick, breezy read. While the novel is primarily fast paced fun, Wilson does incorporate some sad and distressing story lines as well, including child abuse and the sad fate of children with AIDS.

Regarding Jack, I appreciate that he isn't entirely ethical. He's a vigilante with some rage issues. Unlike other heroes, Jack has no qualms about killing and doesn't find himself constrained by hero rules that suggest you should only kill a man in self defence.

What I do find with Jack is that his plans are ridiculously complicated and often only work because the author makes sure that all the pieces fall into place for him. I am often amused by Jack's low tech operation and silly disguises. His use of fake moustaches reminds me a little of Clark Kent and his glasses. But frankly, Jack's convoluted plans are part of the fun.

I enjoyed Legacies and plan to keep reading Repairman Jack novels. I recommend them to anyone who considers themselves a thriller lover. But don't take my word for it. Apparently Steven King is the president of the Repairman Jack fan-club and Dean Koontz gives the character a `big thumbs up'.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Jack's solid sophomore outing
For those who are new to the series, Repairman Jack doesn't officially exist. He has no social security number, no tax records, and no legal identity of any kind. Jack has spent his adult life trying to disappear from society, even distancing himself from his family. He's also a man that people come to for help with problems. For a fee, Jack will "repair" the situation. In Legacies, Jack helps a doctor named Alicia Clayton with a simple robbery but he soon gets involved in a much deeper problem of hers. Without giving away too much of the plot it involves everything from international intrigue to a dark family secret that has haunted Alicia since she was a child.

Legacies is a solid entry in the Repairman Jack series. There is no supernatural element at all, but we do get healthy doses of suspense and action. Jack is in fine form as usual and a relatively minor character named Yoshio is quite interesting as a Japanese operative who becomes something of an ally to Jack. The subplot with Alicia, especially her AIDS hospital, was a lot less compelling to me but these parts aren't difficult to skim if you want to get through them quickly. Fans of Jack will find this well worth reading but I wouldn't recommend it for very first timers. The Tomb (Adversary Cycle/Repairman Jack) or Conspiracies (Repairman Jack) would both be better choices as they are better reads and are natural starting points for the character and his mythology.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Super Reader
A doctor is very disturbed when her father passes away, and she has to deal with his estate, including real estate. She wants nothing to do with, and gets rid of it. She has a key, but to what? Things seem to be getting weird and supernatural.

She ends up turning for help to a brusque Repairman Jack who gives her no promises, and they delve deeper into something odd, and sinister.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Jack Rocks!
I honestly think Repairman Jack is the most clever and unique recurring character I have ever come across. I've only just finished "Legacies" the 2nd in the series and I feel I "know" Jack. The Repairman Jack novels are fast paced, never boring, characters very well developed. I never want to put these books down! This one didn't have a supernatural storyline as did "The Tomb" but it was every bit as good. I can't wait to get to the subsequent one!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Legacy of Great Storytelling
My wife and I just finished F. Paul Wilson's 2nd Repairman Jack novel - Legacies - and were stunned and amazed!

Why you ask?

Because unlike the 1st novel - The Tomb - we were expecting another monster or supernatural type of storyline. But even without those fantastical elements, Legacies managed to still be a fantastic story in many ways.

It was so good in fact, (like the Tomb was), that my wife and I have already purchased the subsequent 6 novels of the Repairman Jack series. And we already have good trust and faith in this awesome author in delivering a rousing yarn - each and every time.

[...]we have no doubt about exploring what new adventures and character growth spurts Jack and Gia will have in future volumes. We can't tell you how well written and fun these very first two novels were to read. Whether you are a male or female, young or old, reading these novels is definately for everyone.

Hollywood take heed!

We loved how Legacies built tension with each and every chapter. We loved reading how all the main characters - new and old - grow as the novel goes along. Mixed with tons of action and adventure, love interests and mystery, Legacies is sure to please the mainstream readers.

Heck, it already has...
