Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
Amazing, but true: Brentford Town Council, in an act of supreme public-spiritedness (and a great big wodge of folding stuff from a mysterious benefactor) has agreed to host the subsequent Olympic Games. The plans have been drawn up, contracts, money and promises are changing hands. Norman's designed some stunning kit for the home team, and even the Flying Swan's been threatened with a major refit (gasp!). But something is very wrong ... primeval forces are stirring in ancient places ... dark magic is afoot in Brentford and someone must save the world from overpowering evil...

... Jim Pooley and John Ornally, come on down!

This must be the daring duo's toughest assignment yet. No longer can they weigh up the situation over a pint of large at random moments during the day. No, this time, to save the world as we know it, the lads must contemplate - nay, undertake - the most horrible, the most terrifying, the heretofore untried - REGULAR EMPLOYMENT!!!

Customer Reviews
User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - I really wish I could read this wonderful sounding book!
I have not read this book. Why? Although I ordered it in NOVEMBER 2005, I have yet to receive it! I have written many letters to no avail. However, I read another review for a product sold by Amazon that the purchaser had some problem with, and their problem got resolved when they wrote a bad review. That's all I'm trying to do here, really; simply get my problem resolved.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Standard Rankin
Not the best Rankin novel - Sprouts fails to inject enough humour into the proceedings to carry the bog standard plot. Rankin regulars (like myself) will be disappointed.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Holy smokes, this is fine!
Well, it isn't the very first Rankin I've read- in fact, I've gone throught them all. But this is one of the best. Coming from Ealing, near Brentford, where the books are set, I must admit I feel a certain affinity with Mr Rankin, but I am damned glad I do. He is incredibly funny, and get's funnier with each book. Sprouts...deals with Brentford's hosting the subsequent Olympic Games, which will be held in a giant invisible floating stadium. Hmmmm. Anyway, it's a great laugh, as much for regulars as newbies. Trust me - you will enjoy it. You have my word. No, really.
