Product Description:
For Jessica Winslow, the only good vampire is a staked vampire. Driven by revenge, the fiery brunette takes insane risks to destroy the undead wherever she finds them. Now she pursues her most fiendish target ever--and finds herself competing with the razor-sharp street smarts of a dangerously seductive man...
Detective John Boehler has no problem dealing with vampires--not even the city's newest bloodsucker, a notorious serial killer John had failed to bring to justice. He does have a problem with the attractive vampire-hunter recklessly following the murderer's trail. But when John falls prey to a power he could never have predicted, Jessica must tempt his now all-consuming hunger--and taste her own uncontrollable desire.

I thought this book was right up there with the very first two. I can't wait for the next. I'm not sure why other reviewers felt Jessica was whiny. I liked both characters, maybe I'm in the minority. But I'm also not too critical of these books.

I liked the very first two books in this series, but I could not get into this one. I could not stand the heroine. The character was whinny, shallow, and immature. I still cannot understand what the hero saw in her. What could he have possibly desired? Every simple request he asked of her, she went against with no remorse or apologies. Even when her actions could have caused some one's death. I still think the very first book was the best with characters that were more well-rounded in an exotic local. This book had none of those qualities.

and a "hero" that is almost in the same league. Truly a match made in heaven??? The very first two books were interesting but I could hardly get through the third. The teaser at the end for Night Slayer #4 seemed like the heroine was cut from the same cloth (but then she is a friend/relative of Jess from NS #3). Needless to say, I'll save my money. After all, there is better reading material out there to spend it on!

I enjoyed the very first book, Out of the Night, the second book Seduced by the Night was fairly good, but this book was third rate at best. I couldn't get into the characters. The plot was stupid. It just seemed to be thrown together. The author had to find a way to incorporate Detective John Boehler into being a Night Slayer by having him turned in the middle of the book. The man is now half human half vampire and he doesn't seem upset about it or have any plausible reaction to it. It was hurried and lacked action or suspense. The love story was pathetic. I did not care for this book at all. I don't know that I would invest in her subsequent book. The series has lost most of it's earlier appeal. The very first book was fresh, inventive, and had plenty of surprises and twists and turns. This last book was difficult to get through.

The very first two in the series were fairly entertaining. This last entry made the series not worth reading anymore. From the first, Jessica Winslow was annoying with Detective John Boehler not much better. The characters were really cardboard and stired no emotion except irritation. I skipped the middle and went to the end.
Readers are encouraged to try J. R. Ward's series or that written by Marjorie Liu. Nalini Singh has also started a wonderful new series. All are well written and entertaining. Right now there seems to be a dearth of new paranormal books published.
"Tempted in the Night" is really not worth the effort.
