Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Charming 2nd Book in the Series!
If you are looking for a fun read this is a great series!
Very light hearted reading mysteries with a bit of magic added in for fun.
I love all the characters and the "love triangle" Maggie is finding herself in.
I have read the very first 2 books in the series so far and I am now 2/3 through the 3rd (Hex marks the Spot).
I have No Rest for the Wiccan waiting to read next.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - What a bewitching series!
I really enjoyed Madelyn Alt's very first installment in her bewitching mystery series 'THE TROUBLE WITH MAGIC' so it was a no brainier to hop on the second book as soon as possible.
'A CHARMED DEATH' started of a bit slow, in my opinion, but quickly picked up the pace once the second murder in as many months occurred in heroine Maggie O'Neill's small Indiana town. This time the victim is one of Stony Mill High School's most popular teenage vixens, the not-so-nice Amanda Robeson. Amanda, who's sexual promiscuity has been a not so well kept secret at the high school goes missing only turn turn up dead just days after Maggie discovers one of Amanda's many enemies at SMHS casting a binding spell on her. Leading Maggie to wonder if Amanda's death was at the hands of a malicious murderer or someone in her very own magical community.

This is a very quaint and endearing series but don't let that description fool you...the mysteries will keep you guessing until almost the very end. I was very happy to see Maggie's abilities really begin to surface in this installment, something that the very first book was lacking. I look forward to watching Maggie perfect her craft and become a real force within her magical community! 4 Stars!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Fun Series
I thought this book was a fun follow-up to book one. This series was introduced to me by a like-minded friend and now we look forward to each installment!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Charming and Magical Read
This was a fun story with just the right touch of magic. As this second book progresses, so does the character development in this series.

Murder, ghosts, a reluctant attraction to an unsuitable man, and dating someone who doesn't believe in her growing abilities are just some of the items Maggie has to deal with as she struggles to come to terms with her new abilities. I like the romantic tension and the story kept me interested all the way to the end.

I highly recommend Madelyn Alt's books to anyone looking for a fun, cozy-style mystery with great characters. I work in a bookstore and read 20+ books per week and Madelyn's books are definitely keepers.

I've loved all three books so far and I'm looking forward to many more.

If you've enjoyed Shirley Damsgaard, Victoria Laurie, or Yasmine Galenorn, be sure to try Madelyn Alt, you won't regret it.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Average but charming
These books are fantastic if you want to stay inside on a snowy night beside the fire place. They are mysterious though lacking on the exciting side, more of a Nancy Drew slow progress style with a boom of an ending. They are interesting though with the witchy side to them. I think somewhat unrealistic especially for so many dramas to be happening in this small, sleepy, quiet town as the Maggie the MC always tells the reader. But they are fun, quirky and down right comforting. Enjoyable but no masterpieces.
