I have been knitting for years, and Maggie Sefton has put a spin on the art. I love the bonus of a recipe and a pattern at the end of the book. The knitting mysteries keep me reading, it's hard to put it down once you get started.

There does seem to be a bit of bad rap for this book for some reason. I don't agree with them. Although I do believe this book to be very light-hearted and not knee-deep into true crime (lets say it's a very watered down investigation)stuff(talk, details, etc), the book does deliver what the author wanted...which is a true cozy mystery that leaves its readers salivating with all of the wonderful imagery of the yarn shop & steamy coffee in Lampspun shop. To me, the characters had life & interest, but the overall setting & knitting imagery meant more.
This book is a true cozy, and really made me want to live in a cottage with all of my fiber, books and a steamy mug of coffee. Plus, the whole "unattainable love" story-line keeped me going as well!
Two thumbs up! I would at least recommend you check it out at your library if you are iffy. It's worth the time to read.

This was a cute summer read for me. The story was light-hearted and fun, and I enjoyed all of the characters. Not a lot of substance, but good brain candy. I'll be passing this one on to my knitting friends.

I find nothing to recommend in this book. The characters are one-dimensional. The main character drops into a ready-made supportive community at a yarn shop, where she can indulge in one-way friendships, but the knitting sections are not realistic. The solving of the central mystery is not believable. The author seems to have picked out several trends (knitting, coffee-drinking) and tried to make the book popular by incorporating them, but the overall effect is boring.

I liked the book, but had trouble both getting engaged with the characters and keeping all the women straight. And I kept reading that she was adding yarn and needles and notions to her tab and thinking about how HUGE that tab must be, especially for someone supposedly watching her budget!
