She thought she'd found safety.
In front of the camera, as anchorwoman for KEY Evening Headlines, she savvy, sexy, and sophisticated. Single-handedly raising a young daughter, she's finally found a safe haven: a dream house in the suburbs, where nothing can ever threaten her again...
It begins with a venomous letter. No stranger to the occasional hate mail that mingles with glowing correspondence from adoring fans, Eliza is at very first unaware that this time, the writer isn't a harmless nutcase. Then come the menacing phone calls. Now that her serene suburban life is shattered by fear, Eliza must face the chilling realization that the stalker is closer, and more lethal, than anyone ever suspected-- perhaps even concealed behind a trusted, familiar face...

Not bad. I was in desperate need of a MHC novel to read, but I read them ALL!!! Figured I would try Mary JANE Clark and I was not dissapointed. A nice substitute if you like MHC. But I am pretty sure MJC has her own loyal following she a pretty good read!

Once again an enjoyable book by this author. I strongly recommend this book if you like a quick read that keeps you on your toes and interested. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it ended too quick - it was so much fun to read.

i read some reviews before i read this book. and, honestly, i don't i don't agree with some of the reviews.
i love the book. this was the very first book i read by mary jane clark, and i couldn't put it down. her writing is rated right up there with her mother. other reviews stated that the reader couldn't see a reason why the killer wanted to kill eliza. if you pay attention to the last few chapters, as well as the whole book, you can tell that the killer goes after her because his is obsessed with her. he loves her and when she refuses to love him back, he vows that no one else can love her either.
this book is a real page turner. i can't wait to read more of her books.

The concept of the book was interesting and I tried to get into it. But what I found was too many nutcases and too many bad things happening at once in Eliza's life. It got to the point, where I just would scoff and shake my head. I liked the climax and maybe would have liked it more if I could have felt it was more believable.

Annotation: "Close To You" is about a television news reporter named Eliza Blake and the life of a news reporter. Eliza is constantly in the spotlight and she seems like she has the perfect life, but when you delve into her life it's not so peachy. She was very first devastated by her husband's untimely death from cancer. Then when she thought she could love again, her new boyfriend moved to London for a job and cheated on her. Plenty of other people admire her and some will stop at nothing to make sure they get her.
Author Information: Mary Jane Clark is a writer and producer at CBS News Headquarters in New York. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with degrees in journalism and political science. She has written many best-selling novels including "Nowhere To Run" and "Hide Yourself Away" and many more. She is the daughter of novelist Mary Higgens Clark.
Evaluation: I enjoyed this book "Close To You" by Mary Jane Clark. This is the very first book of hers that I have read but I am interested to read more by her. I was very first very interested in her mother Mary Higgens Clark's books because they were suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. Then I was presented this book and I figured she would probably good too and she was. I believe that there is a sequel to "Close To You" and I am very eager to get my hands on it since the very first one was so good!
