Product Description:
Three Weddings...And a MurderSo far Meg Langslow's summer is not going swimmingly. Down in her small Virginia hometown, she's maid of honor at the nuptuals of three loved ones--each of whom has dumped the planning in her capable hands. One bride is set on including a Native American herbal purification ceremony, while another wants live peacocks on the law. Only help from the town's drop-dead gorgeous hunk, disappointingly rumored to be gay, keeps Meg afloat in a sea of dotty relatives and outrageous neighbors. And, in whirl of summer parties and picnics, Souther hospitality is strained to the limit by an offenseive newcomer who hints at skeletons in the guests' closets. But it seems this lady has offended one too many when she's found dead in suspicious circumstances, followed by a string of accidents--some fatal. Soon, level-headed Meg's to-do list extends from flower arragements and bridal registries to catching a killer--before the subsequent catered event is her own funeral...

Meg Lanslow is a blacksmith whose summer is dominated by weddings: her mother is remarrying, her brother is wedding for the very first time, and her best friend is also getting ready to tie the knot. When a soon-to-be inlaw turns up dead, Meg's father (who reads too many mystery novels) decides to investigate. As the countdown to the weddings proceeds, the number of untimely demises increases.
Murder with Peacocks is a cozy for closet cozy fans - those like myself who may publicly scoff at the body count surrounding Jessica Fletcher yet secretly enjoy the eccentric characters and happy endings. It is also a book for people - again, like myself - who have a dry sense of humour and appreciate sarcasm.

I really liked this book a lot and have already bought all the rest (to date) of the series that is available.
Nice in between series to read for fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series!
A really funny mystery series.
Love Meg and her family!

A quote from Kirkus Reviews on the front cover states that Murder with Peacocks "will leave you helpless with heartless laughter." It certainly does so for me. From the very first sentence, it is a joke, and invites you to join in.
Our heroine, Meg, is being taken advantage of as maid of honor and default wedding organizer for three weddings in a row. She knows it, but circumstances, including a large Southern family, keep her going. I like that the family is Southern-eccentric, but done with affectionate exasperation rather than sarcastic pseudo-wit. Most of the characters are caricatures, but with the feeling that they are the actualities on which cliches are built.
This is a book to read--and re-read, over and over--just for fun. The actual solution to the [pivotal] mystery is rather clever, but the real fun is in the nonsense of the whole summer.
And I especially like that the family home in Yorktown, Virginia, is not colonial, but Victorian. Not an important point, but fun in that I would have expected colonial in that location. Ms Andrews, however, does NOT do the expected.
Again, a book to read for fun.
