I really liked this book and author. She reminds me of the new author Jan Dynes and her book Refraction. I know this book has been out longer, but I just finished this one, after having read that one and it has the same ability to pull you into the story and entangle you in the characters emotions and the events. This is a talented writer.

Excellent book, suspenseful, a definite page turner. This is another one of Carlene Thompson's many well written books. She has become my favorite author as she satisfies my strong desire for intrigue, along with a bit of romance. She portrays characters who come to life for the reader. Received in perfect condition, and quick and easy transaction.

Yes, a huge disappointment - I had been eagerly looking forward to reading this, based on the intriguing story line, but my impression is that while the author has a good imagination when it comes to creating a story-line, her actual delivery and basic writing style fail to match it. I like intelligent writing by authors who recognise that readers are intelligent too, but in this case central character Nicole Chandler is constantly going over the events of the day or night before, in effect asking the questions that the reader is supposed to be asking. Did he do it? Or was it him? And all too often Nicole has a conversation with somebody, then meets somebody else shortly afterwards and tells that person the details of that previous conversation. While that may often happen in real life, it's tiresomely repetitive for the reader. Billed as a 'suspense thriller', this was little more than interesting, with hardly any suspense and really no thrills at all. Considering the story is based upon brutal rape and multiple murders, the descriptions of these events are not in any way shocking or disturbing and consequently they fail to intill a sense of fear or revulsion in the reader. Well, not this one, anyway. Compared to Retribution (by Jilliane Hoffman) or The Lovely Bones (by Alice Sebold), Tonight You're Mine doesn't even stand comparison.

I have been reading a lot of thrillers lately, and have decided that Carlene Thompson is by far my favorite writer in this genre. Her books are very well written. Her characters are much more intelligent and self reliant than most. I have been distracted and annoyed by the poor grammar, characters' names changing out of the author or editor's carelessness, and overly elaborate descriptions of characters' clothing I have encountered all too often in my recent reading. Carlene Thompson writes a very exciting, suspenseful story in a very literate way. I found "Tonight You're Mine" to be about the best and most exciting suspense story out of approximately 30 I have read in the last month.
