Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Awkward writing
The writing style really put me off. The sentences seemed poorly constructed. I also disliked most of the characters, particulary the supposed heroine. Chyna is a perfectly awful name. The mystery did not really make sense either. By the time I had gotten one third of the way through I started skipping pages. I read the last two chapters and was glad I did not spend time with the others. By the time it was finished, I did not care about any of the characters. I doubt that I will read another book by the author.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Really good read ;-P
I always enjoy Carlene's books and I also enjoyed this one. It took me a little longer than usual to get into it, but at a certain point, it picks up speed and then you get to a place where you cannot put this down.
With her books, you never can tell who the killer is, so I always look at each character suspiciously. I scrutinized each and every one of them and they all had motive and yet she still keeps you in the dark. The one thing I didn't totally dig about this one, was the supernatural aspect of it, but having said that, don't let that stop you reading this if you also don't love that type of theme in your books.
As for a 'keep you on the edge of your seat' thriller, then this is fantastic. As for really shedding light on certain people and situations in here, I don't think she did a great job (for example; making so many people look suspicious and then not giving explanations into why they did the things they did or acted certain ways).
Overall, this is a good beach read or a read for a cold wintery day when your indoors and tucked in bed. While to me it's not her best book, I did enjoy it and hope you will too.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome
This book was great. It was the very first book that I have read by Thompson and now I am getting more of her books to read. It held my attetion through the entire book.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly bland.....
While I can't say it was a "bad" book I certainly couldn't say it was a good one. It was surprisingly bland for a book with paranormal leanings and a quasi romance. In fact it was almost boring for a "mystery". The romance was barely present and luke warm at best. I got tired of Chyna being scared and in denial about her paranormal senses (visions and voices) when she's supposed to have had them since she was a child. The book was slow paced to the point where the big reveal wasn't even exciting or very interesting. After setting this book down I wondered why I'd wasted the time I'd spent reading it. The premise of the book was good and some aspects of it could have been great but it wasn't. Overall it's a big disappointment.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Another fantastic thriller by Carlene Thompson!
Of all Carlene Thompson's terrific suspense novels (and each one is a stand-alone gem), Last Seen Alive ranks as one of my all-time favorites! A diverse pool of suspects and a well-defined, intriguing setting make this mystery a truly gripping read. With paranormal touches woven magnificently into its theme, this superb thriller has a final revelation that will chill you to the marrow. If ever there was a novel I couldn't tear out of my hands, it was this one. I'm already marking off the calendar days until the release of Carlene's subsequent book. It can't come soon enough...
