Product Description:

Eliza Blake, host of the top-rated KEY News morning show, has witnessed tragedy and danger in her career. But nothing the accomplished professional has experienced has prepared her for when her seven-year-old daughter, Janie, is snatched from summer camp. The country's viewers are glued to their television sets, anxiously awaiting the news that their favorite morning-television personality's little girl has been found.

With each passing day, the FBI and local authorities track down every lead: A profile of the kidnapper's most likely characteristics is developed, every fan letter written to Eliza over the last six months is scrutinized, every sex offender registered within a fifty-mile radius is interviewed, and psychics from around the country appear on Eliza's doorstep offering their help.

But Eliza isn't going to sit around and wait for answers. She and the rest of the Sunrise Suspense Society—brilliant producer Annabelle Murphy, cameraman extraordinaire B.J. D'Elia, and psychiatrist Dr. Margo Gonzalez—will band together to outwit a cunning criminal whose shocking motives threaten to snuff out a terrified little girl's life.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - 'Fame and fortune comes with a price...'
It Only Takes A Moment is a suspenseful, fast paced read. New York City news anchor Eliza Black's seven year old daughter Janie and her Hispanic housekeeper have been kidnapped. Eliza is frantically trying to remain calm while trying to find a reason for such cruelty.

She has friends in important places that when they band together, call themselves the Sunrise Suspense Society and they begin to match the pieces of the puzzle in lieu of the puzzled police department.

This is a intriguing read as you become enraptured with the storyline and try to solve the mystery yourself. Due to the large font size and the short chapters, it's a really quick read. Reminiscent of James Patterson's woman's club.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I LOVED this book!!!
This new novel by Mary Jane Clark is wonderfully captivating. I read the book in two sittings while camping - I just couldn't bring myself to put it down. You feel yourself getting into the nanny's and little girl's characters and their anguish, always waiting to see what happens next. It is fast paced and hectic (exaggerated by the fact that the chapters are very short). You also get a feel for the absolute desperation of the mother who is frantic to get her kidnapped child back home safely. If you love a good mystery/suspense read, this is the book for you!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Good Read
An interesting and thrilling read.
Great story about kidnapping that doesn't allow you to put down the book once you begin to read.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - It only takes an evening, at the most!
Eliza Blake, host of KEY News morning show, is once again the heroine in Mary Jane Clark's latest novel.

As always, the story is fast-paced, well constructed and unputdownable. Lots of possible "who did it's" are presented and the mystery is not solved until the very last pages. At least, not by me!!

But in spite of the usual page-turning quality, Ms Clark's knowledge of the media world and superb ability at creating entertaining suspense stories, "It Only Takes a Moment" is not quite in the league with her previous novels. The many and short chapters are too many and too short in this featherlight novel, which does not dwell very long or thoroughly neither on characterization nor situations. There is no real substance to the story, simply skimming the surface.

The book smells of routine and the sketchy outline is highly dependent on previous knowledge of the heroine and her background. Also, the endeavor by Eliza and her friends/colleagues at their own private mystery solving, does remind me a lot of popular detective series from my teenage years.

Mary Jane Clark has established herself as one of today's most successful suspense writers, but this book is a step back. I really hope that subsequent time she will present fresh material a lot more entizingly wrapped.

When I have given the book three stars, it's because it's after all entertaining, although rather as a long short-story than a proper novel. It only takes an evening, at the most!

Author Mary Jane Clark is back with her latest novel involving Eliza Blake, the host of a morning news show on KEY News. Eliza has lost her husband and it is now just her and her seven-year old daughter, Janie. The day starts off as a normal day, Janie is off to camp for the day, Eliza is off to work, and the housekeeper, Carmen, is doing her daily chores. All is going well until one of Carmen's rituals backfires and she is taken against her will and forced to take Janie from camp, possibly to never to be seen again by her mother.

Enter Stephanie Quick, a psychic that has helped police departments in the past solve crimes. She offers her assistance but is brushed off by the local police, until something she told them that she saw in her dream makes them at least consider the possibility.

Also involved are Eliza's co-workers and friends, Annabelle, BJ and Margo. While they have Eliza and Janie's best interests at heart, they also interfere with the investigation of the FBI by not revealing information to them that could assist in the search.

It has been a little while since a book pulled me in so quickly and I didn't want to set it down. I read half the book during my lunch break and finished it that evening. The short chapters also helped!

The timeframe of the story is only a few days. There are a variety of characters and it took me a short bit to keep them straight and while I tried to figure out who kidnapped Janie and why, the ending was a HUGE surprise. I did not see it coming and didn't figure it out until the main character, Eliza, did.

If you have never read anything by Mary Jane Clark, read this one. You needn't have read any of the other books featuring Eliza to be reeled into this storyline, especially since it is one that most parents fear, their child being abducted for unknown reasons.

This reviewer definitely gives the book 2 thumbs up!
