Product Description:
Saturday night dates at the skating rink have been a tradition in the small southern town of Heartsdale for as long as anyone can remember, but when a teenage quarrel explodes into a deadly shoot-out, Sara Linton—the town's pediatrician and medical examiner—finds herself entangled in a terrible tragedy.
What seemed at very first to be a horrific but individual catastrophe proves to have wider implications. The autopsy reveals evidence of long-term abuse, of ritualistic self -mutilation, but when Sara and police chief Jeffrey Tolliver start to investigate, they are frustrated at every turn.
The children surrounding the victim close ranks. The families turn their backs. Then a young girl is abducted, and it becomes clear that the very first death is linked to an even more brutal crime, one far more shocking than anyone could have imagined. Meanwhile, detective Lena Adams, still recovering from her sister's death and her own brutal attack, finds herself drawn to a young man who might hold the answers. But unless Lena, Sara, and Jeffrey can uncover the deadly secrets the children hide, it's going to happen again . . .
Amazon.com Review:
When police chief Jeffrey Tolliver responds to a disturbance at a local skating rink, the last thing he expects is to have to shoot a 13-year-old girl who's holding a gun on a fellow student. Then Jenny Deaver's autopsy reveals two stunning facts: she did not bear the murdered newborn discovered in the rink's restroom, and she had recently been genitally mutilated. With his ex-wife, pediatrician Sara Linton, Jeffrey uncovers a child sex and pornography ring involving Jenny, her classmates, and their mothers--a horrific enterprise that culminated in the killing that Tolliver will never be able to forget. This taut, chilling thriller showcases Karin Slaughter's skill at plotting, pace, and narrative, and will linger in the reader's mind long after the stunning denouement. This is a terrific sequel to her debut, Blindsighted, with two protagonists whose complex relationship will no doubt be a featured subplot in her subsequent offering. --Jane Adams

Are you a strong reader? I mean can you take anything in a book? Prepare yourself for this one. KISSCUT has a very dark theme, but a very hypnotic story.
When Jeffrey Tolliver is forced to shoot a teenage girl who is pointing a gun at a teenage boy, all hell breaks loose in Grant County. The local sheriff has his hands full with his emotional turmoil, but that is nothing compared to the upheaval as a town's dark secret is brought to the surface.
Karin Slaughter is an excellent storyteller. I will admit I did not enjoy this book as much as the very first book in the series, but that may have more to do with the theme of the story. She holds all the twists and complications together, but I will admit to being disappointed in the resolution.
A good read and strong enough to make me want to read the subsequent in the series.

Just finished reading kisscut. Really great book she is one of my favourites. Have now read 4 of her novels and all of her characters have become so good. She really spins a good story even if a little scary sometimes.
In this latest there are some really nasty characters, particularly two females. One of them got away completely so I am hoping there will be a sequel and our favourite policeman Jeffery Tolliver will be around long enough to catch this most evil of women. Took me a while to warm to Detective Lena Adams but in this book she redeemed herself. Of course our favourite Doctor Sara still loves Jeffery which is great. In conclusion just like to say I have always enjoyed Karin Slaughter's books. Bring them on Karin!!!

The rough and raw realm of child pornography is the background for this the sinister KISSCUT of Karen Slaughter's second story in the lives of small town residents in Georgia. Slaughter spares no punches with graphic detail as police chief, Jeffery Tolliver and his ex-wife Sara, the county medical examiner follow a trail of frustrating leads, which destroys the maniac's path.
To save a life Jeffery must take the life of a young girl, which will forever haunt him. This is a page turner you are reluctant to advance to the subsequent page as the pace never relents.

This is a great series of books. I have never been disappointed with Karin Slaught's Grant Co books. I recommend that you read the book preceeding this one. But, they are all good reads.

A shocking novel about a shocking subject. This book left me breathless thinking that such horrible crimes happen in real life too. A real page turner I couldn't put down. It was almost painful to read about such a gruesome subject, but at the same time, I wanted to know how it ended and who got caught. The main characters almost fade into the background because of the subject of the story. A book that gets the adrenaline pumping. Almost as shocking as Mo Hayder's Treatment and Birdman. The TreatmentBirdman
