Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Nice Fast Paced Thriller
Karen Friedman thinks she and her husband have the perfect life, they live in a beautiful house, own a cabin in Vermont, and take vacations in the Caribbean islands. As Charles is leaving for work one morning he tells his wife that his is dropping the car off at the shop and taking the train to work. Later that morning Karen sees on a TV news cast that a train was blown up in Grand Central Station hundreds are dead including Charlie who was on that train. While Karen and their kids mourn their loss, two men visit her telling her that two hundred and fifty million dollars of investment money is missing. To her shock she learns these men are not only on the wrong side of the law, but her Charlie worked with them. As the threats mount Karen knows she must find out what Charlie was into and protect her family. Greenwich Police Detective Ty Hauck is on the case of a hit and run victim, Charlie's name and phone number are on a piece of paper in the victims pocket. As they uncover more and more of Charlie's dark secrets,Karen wonders if her whole life with Charlie has been a lie.

Andrew Gross has co-authored several books with the writting machine known as James Patterson, this is Gross's second solo book and to me it was light years better than his very first solo effort The Blue Zone. This book was full of suspence and great characters including Ty Hauck who will appear in Gross's subsequent novel. It was a fast paced read right from the start with very little filler material which so many books are stuffed full of. The only downfalls for me would be that at times it was rather predictable, and the over use of very first names in the dialogue. It is kind of hard to explain but it just seemed like the frist names of each character were used several times in each sentence. Aside from that which really did not take much from the book, it was a very enjoyable read and I am looking foward to the subsequent Andrew Gross solo book.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Audio book review
The plot is pretty good, so the book had potential. But it's so hard to listen to, the only reason I am still listening is because I paid $35.00 for the audio book. There are several issues, the first.... is what's with ending every, and I mean every conversational sentence with the person's name? If this book has 10,000 words 3,000 of them are Karen, Saul and Charlie. It's ridiculous.
Next is the audio book is just over acted.
And finally in addition to the names being repeated a thousand times, many of the thoughts of the characters are repeated, way too many times. Not several places but within the same several pages.
I'm not sure if the author believes his readers to be stupid or if all the repetition just a filler.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Was This Supposed To Be A Romance Novel?
The author writes reasonably well. Thus, the pages do move. The basic plot was interesting. A hedge fund manager fleeced European mobsters for mega bucks. His mentor, a supposed family friend, was secretly working against him. The fund money backers discovered the cash shortage and started to tighten the screws. Conveniently, a bomb went off as the fund manager rode the metro north train into Grand Central Station in New York. Many were killed. What better excuse for the manager to decide to disappear. Which he did, to the Caribbean. Of course his wife assumed he was dead and mourned him for a year. Enter super cop Ty Hauck. Now he was just the perfect guy. Smart, good looking and in his own way romantic. Incidently, just one skeleton in his closet. He had come home from shopping a few years back and thought he had put the vehicle into park. But hadn't. It rolled backward killing one of his young daughters. That was the turning point in his marriage. By the time he was investigating a hit and run killing he was ready for a new love. He encountered the widowed Karen Friedman and pent up emotions began to stir between them.
He solves the crimes and ultimately gets his woman. I like a super hero. But only if he seems believable. I think Ty was just too much beyond the pale.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - great read
great read. A lot of suspense that kept me reading long after I should have stopped for the day!

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - good story, bad editing.
I have to agree with another reviewer about his overuse of the very first names of the main characters. No one in speaks like that in real life. It was extremely irritating and detracted from the story line. His overuse of cliches was also annoying. Some one was always " winking" at another person! It seems as if he needed fill his book with triteness to make it longer. It had good potential but I was very disappointed in the book. He needs to find a new proofreader.
